DEKB's 2nd Interactive
National Decentralised Energy Conference
"Making it Happen"
21st October 2010, Southampton
Keynote Speaker - Greg Barker MP - Minister of State for Climate Change
With the new Coalition Government now in power, the conference will provide one of the first opportunities for people to gain clarity and a clear political message on how the UK will be tackling climate change and the role District Energy has to play in the UK’s carbon reduction targets.
Following on from the great success of the inaugural DEKB Conference last year, DEKB and its sponsors are pleased to announce the next stage of the route map to "Making it Happen". The Conference will expand on the issues raised in last year‟s Conference, and will look in greater depth at how Decentralised Energy networks are created.
Through a targeted approach, the conference will provide breakout sessions to give delegates expert, one-to-one advice and support. These focused workshops will provide the ideal platform for Public and Private sector organisations to interact with a range of the UK‟s leading industry experts, offering a more specific understanding of the key tools in delivering Decentralised Energy Networks.
The Conference will specifically focus on:
- Funding Streams
- Planning
- Issues & Lessons Learned
- Retrofitting
One of the great achievements from last year‟s Conference was the highly successful energy centre tours, providing delegates with an opportunity to visit the highly acclaimed Birmingham District Energy Scheme. With this year‟s Conference being held in Southampton, those attending will be given the opportunity to visit the exemplar Southampton District Energy Scheme - which contains a 5.7 MWe CHP and a deep Geothermal Well.
This year‟s conference will also see the launch of the "Southampton: Low Carbon City‟ initiative.
As with last year this Conference is FREE to delegates attending from
-
Public Sector Organisations
-
Registered Social Landlords
Standard Delegate Day Rate £200
Concessions available to Property Developers and Students

We have teamed up with leading Decentralised and District Energy experts in order to give credible advice to those who are considering local energy solutions.
We aim to help Local Authorities and other organisations with any "how to" questions you may have and help those seeking to develop Distributed Energy with information on support, finance, regulation, standards and more.
To ask a question select one of the following to enable us to direct your question to the most appropriate expert:
1. Understanding a low carbon technology
3. Grants or financing of your project
4. Starting a new low carbon solution for housing and/or mixed use
9. Delivering a decentralised solution for an existing site
10. General question

The UK District Energy Association (ukDEA) is launched
DEKB is proud to announce that we will be the administrator and responsible for the day to day running of the newly launched UK District Energy Association, the ukDEA.
Conservative shadow energy minister Greg Barker MP has officially launched the UK District Energy Association which aims to promote District Energy as a means to deliver significant carbon savings and establish a direct link between the Government and the industry's small market base. Greg Barker said "As a long time advocate of District Energy, I look forward to working with them (ukDEA) and their members to refine our approach and I hope, potentially, to work with them in Government".
The ukDEA will be a not-for profit association of companies and public sector organisations, initially including representatives of the six main district energy schemes in the UK today: Birmingham City Council, Enviroenergy Limited, Veolia Environmental Services Limited, Southampton City Council, Thameswey Limited and Utilicom Limited. Working closely with the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the ukDEA aims to improve consultation and communication between existing and potential scheme developers, operators, partners and users.
